AL5 Sourdough is a small artisan bakery based in Harpenden, founded in 2025 and run by Daisy. Each loaf is handcrafted using traditional sourdough methods, simple ingredients, and slow natural fermentation to create bread with real flavour, texture and character.
What began as a passion for baking and fermentation has grown into a local micro-bakery producing small batches of sourdough bread for the Harpenden community. Every loaf is mixed, shaped and baked by hand, allowing time and care to develop the beautifully crisp crust and airy crumb that sourdough is known for.
Simple Ingredients, Proper Bread
At AL5 Sourdough we believe great bread doesn’t need complicated ingredients. Our loaves are made using quality flour, water, salt and a live sourdough starter. No additives, preservatives or improvers – just traditional bread made the way it has been for generations.
The slow fermentation process not only develops flavour but also creates the distinctive texture that makes sourdough so enjoyable, whether toasted for breakfast, used for sandwiches, or simply served with good butter and olive oil.
